Home Goods!

I’ve put together a few of my newest home goods all from my favorite store that just happens to be my place of work, Anthropologie! Ever since moving out of my parents home and into my own little place, my love for all things home decor is at an all time high. I swear I buy more pillows and kitchen gadgets than I do clothes these days! But I must say I don’t hate it.  Each of these are my recent favorites that make me excited to come home after a long day as silly as it may be!

Hope this helps give you some inspiration for your own place, and let me know what you have been loving and think I should add to my ever growing collection!

The Details of Fall!

If you haven’t figured out by now from my unlimited comments about how amazing fall is, it’s my favorite season!  Everything is just better in the fall. The activities, the food, the colors, the smells, and the fashion (especially the fashion)!! I thought it would be fun to share my favorite fall details that really help to make your outfit feel more cozy to fit in with the fall season. So here we go!

falldetails

1. My favorite thing about fall are all the sweaters and cardigans. Layering naturally adds a coziness to your everyday look and just makes you want to cuddle up next to a fire and drink some cider. My favorites these past few season have been anything with a big aztec print. It just adds a little character to your outfit!

2. Tassel booties have been EVERYWHERE this summer and they are definitely going to be a staple for the fall. I love having a little something playful at the feet for a little something extra you wouldn’t expect!

3. HATS! I am all about hats. Beanies are the best in my opinion because they have such a cool and easy-going feel that pulls your whole look together. But I am also really loving wide-brim, felt hats this year. They just really feel like a statement piece that can also cover up a bad hair day.

4. Speaking of hair, this is going to be a major surprise for you, like Huge! I am still rocking braids for fall! All jokes aside, braids add a lot of texture and depth to not only your hair, but your overall look. And as you can tell, those two things are a major factor for fall style. Braids can act as an art piece, so even if you keep your looks simple, they add the wow factor!

5. It wouldn’t be fall if it didn’t include a chunky knit scarf. They are full, cozy, and so so so soft. I usually get mine in creams, olives, and maroons because those are pretty neutral colors for the season and will go with anything!

6. Flannels and Vests, my go to outfit for fall.  Flannels not only have a cozy texture, but they are a great way to bring in lots of color your outfit of the day. And layering a basic puffer vest in a solid color helps to tone it down but also creating a very put together look.

A Quarter Century of Me!!!

So it’s official, I’m 25! A quarter of a century! And yet I still look like I’m 14….. I am super excited for a new year to take on my goals and knock them out of the park! 24 was an all-over-the-place kind of year for me. I quit my first big girl job, left Victoria’s Secret after more than 6 years, started a new career working for Ulta Beauty, and so much more!

I’m looking forward to a year filled with hard work in pushing myself the be the best I can be, having a more positive outlook on life in each situation, and forcing myself out of my comfort zone! Now is definitely the time for it! I also really want to dedicate myself to this space so much more as well! It’s been a blast interacting with y’all and seeing how much some of my posts inspire you and I can’t wait to put out more and with the holidays coming up, I have so many ideas to share!

Thank you so much to my family, friends, and everyone who has supported me in the last year and sent birthday wishes! It made my day that much more special and I can’t even explain how much I appreciate all of you!

What’s In My Beach Bag!

It’s officially official, SUMMER TIME IS HERE! Since I live by the beach, I have my beach bag ready to go most days so I can head straight there after work! Thoughout all my years of summer days spent by the ocean, I have put together a pretty perfect collection to make sure it is hassle free!

Just so you know, I’m not one of those people who brings everything they own to the beach… I find that obnoxious and extremely exhausting. Seriously, I don’t want to carry that all out there, let alone carry it all back at the end of the day. So here is what I like to bring to make sure I have a fun and relaxing experience every time!

Headband Love!

Once a headband lover, always a headband lover! I don’t discriminate when it comes to all the different styles. They work for any occasion, any season, and any event. Try an embellished style for an evening out or try a more head wrap style for casual days to keep your hair out of your face! I love wearing them with long, flowy hair during the day for a really boho vibe and adding them to an undone, updo to dress it up for a night out!

Here are some of my favorites that are also SUPER affordable and great quality!

Trend to Love: Ear Jackets

So I don’t know if this counts as cheating, but I made a promise to myself this summer to try more statement earring looks. Now I bought my first pair of these earrings back in January only because they came in a set of really darling studs, which I love! Recently, I’ve just been really into them and I’m including them in my statement challenge!

I really like that they are a little something extra but not too over the top if you don’t normally rock the statement earring trend like yours truly! Most of my favorites I’ve found at ILY Couture and wear them all the time!

Firecracker Fans!

So how long has it been since I’ve done a crafting post….. too long is the correct answer! Well I’ve certainly missed it and I’m back with one to help kick start you decoration plans for independence day! My sister recently asked me to help her with a styled shoot she is doing soon. She wanted some patriotic fans to help accessorize the photos! So that’s exactly what I gave her!

Step 1: Gather Supplies!

  • Festive Paper to match your theme
  • Ruler
  • Glue
  • Stapler
  • Wooden skewers

Step 2: Fold!

Begin with the short side of your paper and accordion fold about 1 inch wide. Once completely folded, cut ends at a diagonal (about 45 degrees). Then, while still folded, staple in the center with the staple being perpendicular to the folds.

Step 3: Glue!

Open your fan so that the edges of one side come together and glue. Hold the edges in place until the have dried completely.

Step 4: Handles!

Take your wooden skewers and position them on the remaining sides. Place them on the inside of the folds and glue in place. Use you twine to keep both handles together. And just like that, you’re all done!

You can used the as a centerpiece for a dinner party to replace the traditional flowers. Or you can write guests names on them like I saw on Martha Stewart and use them as place cards!

Trend To L O V E: Watercolor

So, as I’m sure we all know, tie-dye is literally EVERYWHERE right now. Especially with it being festival season, people are really channelling their inner flower child. I however am not the biggest tie-dye fan. It just seams a little to arts and crafts to where around to everyday get togethers. What I am loving however are watercolor prints. I find them to be very feminine and a great way to add lots of color (like tie-dye) without it being too over the top or harsh!

I think this trend is perfect for spring and summer because HELLO the colors but also for it’s light and airy feel! Can we talk about that watercolor wedding gown! How gorgeous is it! The perfect amount of statement without taking away from the entire dress!

Family Portrait Styling!

So my sisters have been asking me for awhile now to pick out pieces for their everyday wardrobe and for some reason I haven’t been able to get around to it…. until now! One of my sisters is actually getting her family photo taken (by my other sister Katie Powers Photography!) and asked me to help her come up with outfits for her beautiful little family!

I was actually really excited for this because my sister has a very easy going, chic style and I think it will translate perfectly on everyone! It was important to make sure I didn’t come up with anything super matchy-matchy because that has to be the absolute worst when it comes to group photos!

So here are the 3 options I have come up with so far for her to choose from! The main colors that I was really feeling were Navy Blue, Chambray, Grey, Pink, and Cream. It felt very “Springy” without an overpowering amount of pastels!

Bags, Bags, Bags!

Bags are hands down my favorite accessory, I get it from my Mama! And like most things in my life, I like to keep the colors on the neutral side. However, there are times that I like to step out of my comfort zone and make a more colorful statement, and Spring is the best time for that! So I decided to share with you all my favorite picks that will work with almost anything!
