What’s In My Beach Bag!

What you bring to the beach is very important. Most of the time, you spend almost your entire day at the beach and need to make sure you are prepared. I am personally not one of those girls who likes to bring their entire lives with them, mainly because I don’t like the idea of carrying everything to and from the car. So I put together a list of what I put in my beach bag that is easy and keeps me prepared for a long, fun day in the sun!

Bag | Towel | Brush on Block | Aloe Mist | Lip Balm | Celebrate | Speakers | Waterbottle | Selfie Stick

First, you’ll need a really great beach bag! I like to get a neutral colored one as it will go with all of my swimsuits, that is just a personal preference. It looks really clean and usually makes it easier to search through. Next you will definitely need a towel! I have been loving round towels lately, I just feel that it gives you more room around you as opposed you just the length of your body!

Now sunscreen is a given, that should be in your bag everyday! However there are little beauty products that I especially like to carry with me to the beach. The first one being Brush on Block, it is a face sunscreen that soaks up any oil and also gives you coverage for days when your skin isn’t at its best! The next is Supergoop lip balm, which is SPF for your lips! It isn’t sticky at all so you won’t have to worry about sand getting all over it and it protects your lips from burning/chapping! My last must have beauty item is an aloe hydrating mist, it helps to cool you down when there are no clouds in sight!

When laying on the beach all day, you need to keep yourself entertained! My go to is a book since my main reason for a beach trip is to relax! My favorite right now is Celebrate by Lauren Conrad. The images are beautiful and it has some really great tips for throwing different events! Next up is music, I can’t stay anywhere too long if it is silent. So, I always bring my small, portable speakers with me, it is great if you a small group but also won’t get too loud so you don’t bother anyone around you. Lastly, I always like to bring a selfie stick when I go with a bunch of girlfriends, it will keep you entertained for about an hour.

To keep myself hydrated throughout the day, I ALWAYS bring water. It’s usually the only thing I bring to drink since the sun is so draining. However, I only like to drink ice cold water, I can’t stand when it’s room temperature or hot. So if you’re like me, I suggest you get yourself a Swell Bottle. No joke, your water will be ice cold for 24 hours, it’s amazing! When it comes to a snack, I also try to keep it light. I almost always bring cut up watermelon, it’s filling & refreshing all at once. I also like to bring wheat thins for the same reason, they aren’t too salty so you won’t feel like you have a food baby afterwards!

Let me know of any items you have that are a must for a perfect beach day!

Spring Fever Must Haves!

As of yesterday, it is officially SPRING! I have been waiting for this day since the first snow hear in Charlottesville. Spring is the time of year where there’s fresh flowers everywhere, sundresses, and outdoor activities that last more than 30 minutes!

Spring style is my favorite because it is so effortless, you don’t have to wear 5 different layers. You can throw on a dress, necklace, and pair of sandals & be good to go! So I’ve decided to list some of my favorites from UOIOnline.com to give y’all some spring inspiration! Also, if you use the code KERRYMAR online, you will receive 10% off your entire purchase!

Happy Shopping!

July Favorites!

Hello again, long time no post! But I have a very good reason as I was on a family vacation and decided to take a little break from posts and spend as much time with them as possible and in doing so, I left my computer at home! But now I’m back and ready to share some of the many things I have been loving in this blur of a month (Seriously…where did August come from?)

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7

1. I don’t think there is anything I have been loving more this summer than the perfect pair of denim shorts and these festival high-rise from AEO are just that! Not to mention I am in love with the decorative blue eyelet lace pockets details!

2. This song was playing on repeat on my playlist while I was at the beach this past week! It gives you the perfect mix between, “I want to relax” & “I want to rave!”

3. Exfoliators are pretty much my favorite things on earth! I’m always looking for a new one to give my skin that little oomph! The girl at Sephora definitely ran with my obsession with Josie Maren products and convinced me to try out this interesting powder exfoliator that works wonders!

4. My second favorite thing on earth are masks and this one is an oldie but goodie! When it comes to cleaning out all the toxins from your skin, there really isn’t anything better!

5. Another fashion item I can’t get enough of are lace up sandals! I have been wearing these ones all over the place and I even went ahead and bought a black pair for work!

6. I decided to stray away from my usual St. Tropez and Loving Tan. Don’t ask me why, I just had a feeling that I needed to! I’m glad I did because I found this beauty that is super nourishing for my skin but also gives me a great glow without the damage!

7. Surprise, surprise, a Victoria’s Secret item made the list! I was CRAZY excited in our associate meeting when the first told us about the brand new body care line and even more excited when I got my samples! This collection is amazing and I especially love the scrub and lotion! AND they are $8 right now!

Vaca Makeup Must-haves!

With my vacation coming up on Sunday (I’m so excited btw!!!) it got me thinking about what I wan’t to bring makeup wise for a beach trip. I don’t usually wear makeup to the beach, but we will be doing other things beside laying on the sand and lounging in the pool. For me I like to bring as little as possible especially for a laid back vacation such as this one. So I though it would be fun to share my go to items to give a pretty look without having to put on a full face!

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6

1. I think the safest bet is to not wear a full coverage foundation. I personally am not a fan of foundation in general so this bareMineral Complexion Rescue is perfect for me! It’s extremely lightweight, but will cover any uneven spots I may have from being out in the sun.

2. Becca Highlighters are my absolute favorite! I couldn’t possibly leave this behind. It gives you the perfect dewy complexion that will “highlight” your just left the beach look!

3. The most important of them all is the waterproof mascara! Mascara is the one thing I rarely ever go a day without. This one from Make Up For Ever is perfect because not only is it waterproof, but it is also heat resistant which is a must!

4. Since I rarely let the harsh rays from the sun hit my face (I’m usually drenched in sunscreen or wearing a hat) I need a bronzer to give me some extra color so I don’t look too uneven. My hoola bronzer goes on so smooth and blends easily into your skin to give a natural look at the points the sun would usually hit your face.

5. I was never a fan of blush until I found this one by my favorite beauty guru, Josie Maran. This color stick is very creamy and just adds the perfect tint of color that makes you looks naturally flushed.

6. Now when vacationing at the beach, I prefer to stay away from brightly pigmented lips. I recently had an impulse buy at Sephora for the Tarte LipSurgence Skintuitive Lip Tint and I have to say that I’m in LOVE! It works with your natural pH to give you a unique pink every time. It’s almost like a mood ring in gloss form that also nourishes your lips!

Mermaid Briads!

My go-to hairstyle in the summer is by far braids! They are soft and pretty as well as give a little more than your average ponytail would do. You can wear them throughout the day to keep your hair out of your face (and off your neck) or dress them up for a night out. I just love them.

There are tons of different kinds of braids to try out, but my favorite ones are those that give off a mermaid vibe. With my natural red hair, I have an automatic love for anything that makes me feel even more like a mermaid. These 3 are just a few that I have been wearing these last couple of weeks since summer began! They are super easy but look a little more detailed than they actually are, which I also love!

What’s In My Beach Bag!

It’s officially official, SUMMER TIME IS HERE! Since I live by the beach, I have my beach bag ready to go most days so I can head straight there after work! Thoughout all my years of summer days spent by the ocean, I have put together a pretty perfect collection to make sure it is hassle free!

Just so you know, I’m not one of those people who brings everything they own to the beach… I find that obnoxious and extremely exhausting. Seriously, I don’t want to carry that all out there, let alone carry it all back at the end of the day. So here is what I like to bring to make sure I have a fun and relaxing experience every time!

What's In My Beach Bag!

Sunny Daze!

It may technically still be Spring, but the Summer weather is definitely here and with that comes the very stung rays from the sun! Now I love the sunshine, but I hate how damaging it can be to the skin! I wanted to take a moment to share how I take in the summer sun without harming my skin in the process!

Safe Sun

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6

1. GET A HAT! They don’t only protect the skin around your face, but they can act as a super cute accessory! Pick a baseball cap for an ultra casual look or choose a floppy hat for a little more sass! Extra points if they have your monogram!

3. LATHER ON THE SPF! Sunscreen needs to be your best friend! Make it a habit. I make sure it’s the first thing I apply before I get dressed all year round because my skin is super sensitive to light. And always remember to reapply throughout the day. Sunscreen does wear off!

3. PRACTICE SAFE SUN! If you’re going to the beach, don’t lather on oil and bake in the sun. You can still get plenty of color with good ole SPF. And stay away from tanning beds! I still don’t know why those things still exist. Use a spray tan if you feel more confident with a bronzy glow. Loving Tan & St. Tropez are my favorite and last longer than what you’ll get baking in a bed!

4. COVER-UPS ARE YOUR FRIENDS! We all know accidents happen and that includes getting a little too much sun. If you feel yourself starting to get a burn, grab your cover-up to help save yourself some pain later on that night. They come in so many cute styles now that sometimes I don’t event want to take mine off!

5. HYDRATION IS KEY! The sun is draining, so make sure to drink as much water as you can. Now this rule should last all year round, but since the summer heat can be very harsh, I feel myself needing more on a daily basis. This not only helps you from feeling sick, but hydrated skin is healthy skin, and healthy skin has a beautiful glow to it!
